Recorders’ Conference 2010

We can now take bookings for the Recorders’ Conference in September 2010. Despite its name, the conference is not just for County Recorders - anyone interested in recording the flora of Britain & Ireland would find it useful and interesting. Follow this link for details.

New Daffodil Web Site

With the first daffodils of the year soon to appear, you might like to visit Mick Crawley's new daffodil cultivar identification site on ..

>> The Daffodil Site

You will certainly be able to identify Narcissus 'Rijnveld's Early Sensation' (pronounced "Rhine-felt"), because it is the only all-yellow Division 1 (i.e. big trumpet) daffodil commonly seen in flower in January.

The miniature Narcissus 'Tete-a-Tete' will soon be a common sight on graves in churchyards, both as a pot plant, and as planted bulbs. Good hunting. You are welcome to send me digital photos of plants you can't identify, or of individuals for confirmation.

Please send comments for improvements to the web site to Mick Crawley.

We have produced new county checklists from the Maps Scheme database. Follow this link...

Tetrad Maps of Ireland

Our Tetrad Distribution Maps now include both Britain and Ireland. Sure, the Irish data is even thinner than our somewhat sparse British recording, but officially we don’t launch our tetrad mapping project until 2010, so what you see is only a preview...

Identify a Plant...

...using our multi-access BotanicalKeys web site, where you can submit your record, which will be forwarded to the relevant county recorder. Or, if you would rather, then please send us a photo of a plant for identification. The Plant Crib is the most detailed guide to the identification of difficult plants in Britain & Ireland.
