Each year we send out checklists for every county, based on the data in the Maps Scheme Database. The checklists this year show the number of records of each species in each date class. A ‘record’, in this context can be either a tetrad or a hectad, so the numbers won’t necessarily add up as you might expect; but hopefully they give a better idea than simply presence or absence.
The lists are given below as text files. Save them to your hard disk first. Then open Excel (or your spreadsheet program) and choose file - open. Set it to recognise text files, and then double-click on the file you are looking for. This should start the text import wizard. The file type is comma delimited. The columns, in order, are: v.c., species, BRC number, DC0, DC1, DC2, DC3 & DC4. The date classes are DC0 = <1929; DC1 = 1930-1969; DC2 = 1970-1986; DC3 = 1987-1999; DC4 = 2000-2009.
Additions and corrections should be sent to Alex Lockton.
